Driving lesson turns into car accident in Laconia

LACONIA — A 16-year-old girl learning how to drive received a bigger lesson than intended Sunday morning.

Police said a vehicle being driven by the girl, with her father providing advice and guidance, drove into the opposite lane of Gilford Avenue just after 11 a.m. Sunday and hit a vehicle that was stopped in traffic.

The second car was pushed into a motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle jumped off at impact.

Several people in the car that was hit were taken to Lakes Region General Hospital for treatment of injuries described as not life threatening.

Police said speed and alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash.

Anyone who may have seen the accident is asked to call the Laconia Police Department at 524-5252.
