Manchester-based 900 Degrees restaurant opening second location in Epping
EPPING — A Manchester restaurant known for serving up award-winning wood-fired pizza will soon bring its gourmet pies to Epping.
This week, 900 Degrees Wood Fired Pizzeria announced plans to open its second restaurant in the Brickyard Square shopping center at the junction of Routes 125 and 101.
The restaurant, which serves Neapolitan-style thin crust pizza, will be much larger than its location in a mill building at 50 Dow St. in Manchester and will bring 50 to 70 new jobs to the area.
“We’re really going to be offering something to an area that doesn’t have enough restaurants,” said 900 Degrees’ owner Priscilla Lane-Rondeau, a Manchester resident.
The 4,900-square-foot restaurant is expected to open in September and will feature two ovens, a pizza bar where people can watch the pizza as it’s being cooked, a regular bar and seating for 143 patrons.
The Manchester location, which opened in 2007, is 2,800 square feet and has only one oven.
“The two ovens will allow us to get the pizzas out quicker,” Lane-Rondeau said.
The new restaurant will also have enough space to offer a private event room and will likely open a patio next spring.
The menu may be expanded a bit, but will be similar to what’s offered in Manchester.
The restaurant uses flour from Italy, and while local ingredients are used as often as possible, Lane-Rondeau said 900 Degrees uses a lot of imported cheeses and meats.
“We’re going to continue to be the best at what we do,” Lane-Rondeau said.
Given the success of the restaurant’s Manchester location, Lane-Rondeau said she began looking to open a second restaurant about two years ago.
She was hoping to find another millyard building, but said they tend to be secluded and “off the beaten path.” She settled on the Brickyard Square plaza because it would be more visible and would be in an area that’s seen rapid growth in recent years.
“The area is the top growing area in New Hampshire right now. It’s very busy,” Lane-Rondeau said.
She described her restaurant as a “showplace” that’s as much about the atmosphere as it is the pizza.
“I’m about the experience. I want the whole nine yards. I want the whole experience,” Lane-Rondeau said.
