Several sites in Windham are awaiting ‘adoption’ for spruce-up
Event organizer Lisa Ferrisi, who serves on the town’s Conservation Commission, said the main goal is to reach out to area businesses, volunteer groups, not-for-profit organizations and local residents, and ask them to help improve designated areas of town.
That “love and attention” will include removing litter, weeding, and adding colorful plants and flowers.
With materials for the planting and landscaping projects already donated by several area businesses, volunteers can participate in the program free of charge.
Ferrisi said the town has identified 35 potential sites, all of which are awaiting “adoption.”
The kickoff is at 9 a.m. in the Community Development Room at the Windham town complex.
Those who wish to adopt a “spot” are asked to sign up for the program before June 1. For more information or to register, visit www.windhamnewhampshire.com or contact Ferrisi at email@example.com.
