New Hampshire Masons to install grand master

MANCHESTER — Stewart L. Aronson of Exeter will be installed as the 114th grand master of Masons in New Hampshire on Saturday at the Masonic Lodge after the 223rd annual meeting of the Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons.

Aronson was the first grand master to be elected at the semi-annual meeting in November; previously, the grand master was elected and installed in May. He will oversee the activities of 68 regular lodges and four special lodges comprising about 6,500 Masons.

He is the chief executive officer of Evergreen Place, an assisted living facility on Beech Street in Manchester.

Masonry is celebrating its 277th anniversary in the state, having lodges in the Seacoast area in 1736. The Grand Lodge, however, was started in 1789, and prior to this, the earlier lodges came under the jurisdiction of Massachusetts.

Masons contribute to their communities through a variety of charitable and community-based programs. Men 18 and older are eligible for membership and can contact their local lodge for more information. For more information, go to www.nhgrandlodge.org.

The club also plans its annual sale of homemade cookies Friday, Sept. 6, and Thursday, Sept. 26, at the Swasey Park Farmers Market.

Antique appraisals by antiques expert Dan Olmstead are planned from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at town hall.

The club meets at 1:30 p.m. the first Tuesday of the month from October through May at Langdon Place, 17 Hampton Road. The club is seeking new members and invites women in Exeter and surrounding towns to attend the next meeting and program in the fall.
