Brief foot chase ends in Manchester man's arrest for burglary

MANCHESTER - A city man is under arrest after police say they caught him in the act of burglarizing a gas station.

Christopher Stiasny, 19, was arrested early Tuesday morning after a brief foot chase by officer Dan Golia.

Police said just before 1 a.m. Tuesday, a burglar alarm sounded at Prime Gas, 276 Elm St. When Golia arrived, police said Stiasny was standing in front of the business, and the front glass door was shattered.

Investigators said Stiasny fled and Golia chase him as he ran east across Elm Street into the Triangle Credit Union parking lot and up onto Willow Street where Golia caught up to him.

As he was running, police said Stiasny tossed three packs of Newport cigarettes he took from his pockets. Police recovered the cigarettes and said they say bore the same tobacco tax number as the ones sold in the gas station. Nothing else appeared to be missing from the station.

Stiasny is charged with burglary and resisting arrest.
