NHIAA Roundup: Hanover, Cravero pull one out

Pinch runner Harry Dwinell scored the go-ahead run on squeeze bunt in the sixth inning, and senior righty Joe Cravero tossed a complete game as Hanover defeated Coe-Brown of Northwood, 3-2, in Division II baseball play on Monday.

Jordan Levin led off the sixth inning with a single, and Pat Whelan provided the squeeze bunt for the Marauders (7-5), who played error-free at home. Cravero struck out 12 and allowed four hits. Liam Gantrish had three hits for Hanover. Sean Simoneau pitched a complete game for Coe-Brown (5-9), scattering six hits.

Oyster River 5, John Stark 4: At Durham, Tyler Keim threw six innings, striking out nine, but couldn't hold off hot-hitting Oyster River (6-6). James Henry went 2-for-4 with a two-run triple to highlight the Stark offense.

Newfound 4, Inter-Lakes 3: At Bristol, Zach Desrochers stole home for the dangerous Newfound Bears (7-4), and Dahlton Fairbank went 3-for-4 with a run scored. Fairbank also picked up the victory in relief.

Derryfield 15, Epping 5: At Manchester, Nick Regan (five innings) and James Adie (one inning) held Epping to one hit, and Chris Rizos collected three hits and stole five bases in a contest that ended after six innings because of the 10-run rule. Regan, Adie, Noah Goldstein, Jim Larson and Parker Blaisdell each had two hits for the Cougars.

ConVal 5, Merrimack Valley 2: At Penacook, winning pitcher Zach Mackey worked five innings while allowing one unearned run, and Ivon Clough pitched the sixth and seventh for the save. Harrison LeFlem's two-out, two-run single gave the Cougars (7-4) a commanding five-run lead. Host MV dropped to 7-4.

Souhegan 7, Pembroke 6: At Pembroke, Peter Bennett drove in Michel Ehrenstein with what turned out to be the game-winning run on a sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning. Pembroke forced extra innings by scoring once in the bottom of the seventh. Pembroke's Vinny Dustin had a triple, three stolen bases and drove in two runs.

Alvirne 11, Salem 1 (5 inn.): At Hudson, Greg Emanuelson blasted a two-run triple in the fifth inning, and Tyler Brown tossed a one-hitter with seven strikeouts. Coach Mike Lee notched his 300th career varsity win.

Merrimack 10, Memorial 9: At Merrimack, the Tomahawks erased a six-run deficit with big hits from Mike Gasper, Devin Gillis, Steve McFadden and Dom Valluzzi. Brenden Holt and Brett Glendye each drove in two runs. For Memorial (3-10), Jacob Boylan had three hits and three RBIs.

Dover 12, Nashua South 2: Ian Seawards earned the victory for host Dover (8-6). South dropped to 4-8.

Softball

Franklin 19, Kearsarge 0:
At North Sutton, Lexi Colpack and Shelby Joyce each had three hits, and starting pitcher Kelsey Bird shut down the Cougars (0-13) with eight strikeouts while allowing one hit.

Kearsarge (0-13) had a hit in the third inning.

Gilford 9, Belmont 0: At Gilford, Sydney Strout allowed one hit and struck out 14 as Gilford (11-1) extended its winning streak to 11 games.

Strout also had three hits in the victory. Gilford's Mollie Dignan had a two-hit performance.

Dover 12, Nashua South 1: At Nashua, South's Shaylyn Freitas had two hits and reached base four times, but the Purple Panthers stranded 10 runners and left the bases loaded twice. South's Teddi Kramer doubled and reached base twice.

Girls' lacrosse

Plymouth 12, Laconia 6:
At Plymouth, Kenady Kelly took control of the first half and finished with four goals and two assists for the Bobcats (8-3). Ann Furbush and Jessie McDonough each scored a hat trick for the winners.

Makenzie Howe had three goals for Laconia (5-6), and Sachems goalie Hanna McDaniel made 17 saves.

Pinkerton 16, Exeter 11: At Derry, the Astros (11-3) pulled away in a close battle as Kennedy Daziel and Maggie McCarthy each scored four goals. Exeter (10-5) took a 9-8 lead into halftime.

Ann Vogt had four goals and one assists for the Blue Hawks.
