Sarah Long Bridge opens ahead of schedule

PORTSMOUTH - The Sarah Mildred Long bridge was opened to vehicular traffic around 11:30 a.m. Monday, almost two weeks ahead of schedule.

The ailing middle bridge connecting Portsmouth and Kittery, Maine, was damaged April 1 when a tanker came loose from the state pier and collided with it.

The bridge had been closed to vehicular traffic since then and was not scheduled to open until Memorial Day weekend.

Incidental work will continue to be done to complete the repair.

The bridge is scheduled to be replaced by 2017.

Christie is the real deal

We have found Gov. Chris Christie to be the most consistent, the most confident in his abilities, the most tested under fire, and the most likely to regain the White House from a disastrous Democratic regime.
