Burglars hit Manchester jewelry store for second time in a week

MANCHESTER - For the second time in a week, Pearson's Jewelry on Elm Street was hit by burglars who broke the glass front door and then smashed display cases, making off with at least a dozen Tag Heuer and Breitling watches as well as assorted rings and necklaces.
The break-in occurred about 3:40 a.m. Monday, one week after the 926 Elm St. store was burglarized last Monday morning, a crime that netted thieves about $30,000 worth of jewelry and watches.
Lt. Maureen Tessier said the same glass display cases were smashed in today's burglary and emptied of their merchandise as they were last week.
She said there is no estimate on the value of the watches and jewelry taken this morning. A burglar alarm sounded, alerting police to the burglary, but by the time they arrived the thieves were already gone.
Tessier said investigators do not know if the same person or individuals are responsible for both burglaries.
