Ossipee police seeking man who fled from officers

OSSIPEE— Ossipee police were busy Sunday searching for a man they said fled from officers during a security check at a camper on Chickville Road.

Ossipee police say two officers were approaching a camper at 7:45 a.m. Sunday when they say they heard what sounded like a weapon being loaded.

The officers quickly retreated to a patrol vehicle and requested backup. While waiting for other officers to arrive, police say a man in the camper, identified by police as James Brooks, 29, of Ossipee, fled the area on foot.

A K-9 was brought in, but was unable to pick up Brooks' trail, police said.

As of Sunday night, police were still looking for Brooks, who they said was likely armed but they felt did not pose a threat to the community.

As of Sunday night, police had not released the initial reason behind the security check they were conducting.

We have found Gov. Chris Christie to be the most consistent, the most confident in his abilities, the most tested under fire, and the most likely to regain the White House from a disastrous Democratic regime.
