NHIAA Roundup: Hollis/Brookline wins slugfest with Pembroke

The Pembroke Academy baseball team tied its Division II contest against Hollis/Brookline by scoring five times in its final at bat Saturday, but the Cavaliers prevailed 13-12 when Austin Pigott came up with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh.

Pembroke's Seth Gonya had two home runs, including a grand slam, drove in seven runs and scored three times. Jeremy Heard and Sam Van Noy homered for the Cavaliers.

Belmont, Mass. 3, Salem 1:
At Salem, catcher Jake White had two hits and drove in a run, but the Blue Devils came up short in this non-league contest. Shortstop Nick Shumskie, center fielder Joe Lemenager and second baseman Cody Soucy had Salem's other hits. The Blue Devils received a complete-game pitching performance from Dominic Palermo, who held Belmont to six hits.

Nashua North 13, Central 6:
At Manchester, Zach Smith allowed six runs in 4 1/3 innings, but raised his record to 6-1 with North's victory Friday night. Mike Cadorette and Kyle McCarthy combined to pitched 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.

North's Spencer Madden collected four hits, scored three runs and drove in two. McCarthy added two hits and two RBIs.


Girls' lacrosse



Nashua North 7, Hollis-Brookline 6: At Hollis, the Titans (7-6) trailed with less than three minutes to play and rallied on goals by Ellie Shuman and Kara Upton to their third straight win. Shuman scored three goals and Upton and Molly Mulcahy each had a pair. Nashua North avenged an early season 9-7 loss to the Cavaliers (6-5).

Sierra Mullins had 10 saves for the Titans.

Manchester Memorial 13, Nashua South 12: At Nashua, the Crusaders (1-10) held off the Panthers (0-12) in a battle of teams looking for their first win.

Memorial's Caitln Petro led all scorers with seven goals. Jen Gaudet had three goals and Jasmin Petrosino a pair for South.



Boys' lacrosse



Manchester Central 7, Keene 3: At Manchester, the Little Green (3-7) broke on top early and outscored the BlackBirds (2-7) in the first period. Ross Lougee, Connor Rowley and Jackson McCormack each had a pair of goals for Central and Julio Rincon added one. Logan Carston scored a pair for Keene.

Alex Morgan made eight saves for Central and Matt Winchester had nine for Keene.
