Police: Young driver left scene after knocking down utility pole in Rochester

ROCHESTER – Police are investigating a crash in which an SUV knocked down a utility pole along Route 202A and left the scene at about 12:45 a.m. Saturday.
Police say they determined a juvenile was driving a 2007 Ford Expedition that struck the pole, but released no other information on the driver.

Charges may be filed as a result of the accident, which remains under investigation, police said.
While it sustained significant front-end damage, the Expedition was still drivable, according to police.
Police, firefighters and emergency personnel responded around 12:45 a.m. after receiving a report of an accident near 54 Strafford Road – Route 202A.
Police said the vehicle left the scene leaving downed wires blocking the road.
Two area residents used flashlights to warn oncoming traffic. Traffic was rerouted until crews from Public Service of New Hampshire cleared the lines, according to police.
It took about six hours for crews to replace the pole and restore service to the area, according to PSNH spokesman Catalina Celentano.
"We didn't receive any reports of outages," Celentano said, adding PSNH crews responded around 1 a.m. and had power restored by the time most customers woke up on Saturday.
