NHIAA Roundup: Campbell prevails in Cooperstown
Byers limited Mascenic to four hits, struck out 10 and walked one. Nick Freson and Jackson Musco each had a sacrifice fly for the Cougars, who improved to 8-4 in Division III. Mascenic dropped to 4-7.
Spaulding 3, Salem 0: At Salem, Joshua Gagne worked all seven innings and Loukas Brigham went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to highlight Spaulding's victory.
The game was scoreless until the sixth inning, when Justin Jewell scored on a sacrifice fly. Brigham followed with a two-run single to give Spaulding (8-4) some breathing room. Gagne allowed four hits, striking out two with two walks. Dan Morin led Salem's offense with two hits and a stolen base.
Pembroke 12, West 0: At Pembroke, Shane St. Onge pitched five innings and fanned eight Blue Knights, leading the Spartans (9-2) past Manchester West (3-8). St. Onge allowed only one hit and walked two. Mike Martinez went 1-for-1 with a double, two walks and three runs scored to highlight the Pembroke offense.
Goffstown 19, Lebanon 1: At Goffstown, the Grizzlies scored 19 runs in the first inning and remained on top of the Division II standings. Tyler Perron, Chris Hood, Adam Routhier and Chris Garrison each had three hits for the Grizzlies. Garrison's hits included a two-run home run.
Alvirne 2, Concord 1: At Concord, Dan Brown scored a run and drove in another in support of sophomore Derek Hudson, who held Concord to five hits in six innings. Tyler Brown earned the save. Brown has a team-high .406 batting average.
Bishop Guertin 8, Pinkerton 7: At Derry, Eric Damphousse, Clint Fontanella, Jon McQuarrie, Andrew Mierzwa and Griffin Scanlon each collected two hits for the Cardinals, who overcame a four-run deficit. Pinkerton made it a one-run game by scoring three times in the sixth, but BG's Quinn DiPasquale tossed a scoreless seventh.
Bishop Guertin 10, Pinkerton 3: At Nashua, Kristina Terrazano pitched four innings, and relievers Holly Kathois and Kristina Haggdan each made a scoreless appearance for the Cardinals (7-5).
Kenzie McCabe homered and drove in four runs for BG, and Tori Dubois went 2-for-4 with an RBI. For Pinkerton (6-7), Natalie Fabrizio pitched six innings and allowed one earned run.
Franklin 9, Hopkinton 6: At Franklin, winning pitcher Kelsey Bird allowed four hits and struck out seven Hawks, and Mariah Gauthier hit a three-run homer to highlight the Golden Tornadoes' victory.
Lexi Colpack homered in the second inning and had two hits.
Becca Shatney collected two hits for Hopkinton (8-3).
Goffstown 14, Lebanon 0: At Goffstown, sophomore Nicole Nanof hit two home runs to help Goffstown pick up its ninth victory of the season. Nanof hit a solo home run in the third, and a three-run home run to highlight a 10-run fourth. Hanna Gifford, Nicole Ripley and Haeli Campbell each had two hits for the Grizzlies.
Nashua North 14, Keene 13: At Keene, Kara Upton scored five goals, and Catherine McInerney played exceptional defense and forced several turnovers. Winning goalkeeper Sierra Mullin made 10 saves for the Titans (6-6). Ellen Malley and Payton Wilhelm each had four goals for Keene (2-7).
Souhegan 22, Exeter 12: At Amherst, Mickenzie Larivee collected eight goals and three assists to lead the Souhegan offense. The Sabers also received a six-goal performance from Madison Learned.
Londonderry 12, Pinkerton 11: At Derry, Alexa Bedell and Chelsea Leavis each scored three goals and Sarah Ford made 12 saves to highlight Londonderry's victory. Erin Coutts and Maggie McCarthy each had four goals for the Astros.
