EAST KINGSTON – A newly appointed planning board member was arrested Wednesday night on drug charges after authorities seized several marijuana plants and drug paraphernalia from his residence near East Kingston Elementary School, police said.

Ikie Davis, 33, of 20 Andrews Lane, East Kingston, was nabbed after police said they executed a search warrant and discovered an indoor growing operation.

Davis is charged with manufacturing a controlled drug, possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute and endangering the welfare of a child.

Charges could be enhanced because the residence is located less than 300 feet from the elementary school.

Police said more arrests are expected.

Bail was set at $15,000 cash. Police said Davis is being held on a probation detainer for an unrelated crime.

According to town officials, selectmen appointed Davis to the planning board on April 1 and he attended his first meeting on April 18. He had not served on the board prior to his new appointment.

Davis was appointed based on a recommendation from the planning board.

East Kingston police were assisted Wednesday by Kensington, Newton, and South Hampton police as well as a canine from the New Hampshire State Police.
