House committee believes bill would allow a casino to serve liquor around the clock

CONCORD - The state Liquor Commission believes a new casino on the state's southern border will have to abide by current laws that limit liquor sales to 6 a.m. to 1 a.m.

However a House gambling committee studying Senate Bill 152, which allows a casino along the state's southern border with up to 5,000 video slot machines and 150 table games, believes the legislation would allow the casino to serve alcohol 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The House super committee meets Thursday to begin finalizing its recommendation on SB 152.

The Senate has passed the bill, backed by Gov. Maggie Hassan, on a 16-8 vote earlier this year, but the House has never voted for a casino.

The House is scheduled to vote on the bill later this month.
