HOOKSETT - Police are searching for a man who took a woman's wallet that she left unguarded for moments at a register at Walmart.

The theft happened April 30 when the woman had put her wallet down at the register and briefly walked away. When she returned, her wallet was gone.

Police said surveillance footage shows a man in line behind the woman waiting to make a purchase. While the cashier is completing the transaction, the man picked up the wallet and hid it in his shopping bag.

The thief is described as a white man with a thin build, appearing to be 60 to 70 years of age. The woman told police she remembers seeing "Norm's Auto Body" written on his shirt.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Detective Dean Lombardo at 624-1560.
