MANCHESTER - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats walked their way to a comeback victory on Friday night.

The Fisher Cats, down 4-0 early and 5-4 entering the seventh, scored four runs - three on consecutive bases-loaded walks - and downed the Reading Fightin Phils, 8-5, in the opener of a six-game homestand at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

New Hampshire began its rally in the fourth inning. Down 4-0, Clint Robinson cracked a one-out single and Brad Glenn followed with a two-run homer.

The hosts inched closer with two runs in the sixth, when Ryan Schimpf tripled home Ricardo Nanita, then scored on an infield groundout, making it 5-4.

In the seventh, Schimpf doubled home John Tolisano, tying the game at 5. Reading reliever Justin Friend, who took over to start the seventh, intentionally walked Robinson to load the bases, then followed that with non-intentional walks to Glenn, Kevin Nolan and Adam Loewen, each producing a run.

Mike Nesseth replaced Friend and induced Sean Ochinko to pop into a double play, ending the inning.

Chad Beck hurled the final two innings for the Fishers, allowing no hits and fanning two, for his sixth save of the season. Chorye Spoone worked innings four-through-seven to earn his first victory.

The teams continue their series Saturday afternoon at 5:05.
