Salem police arrest 3 for Home Depot theft, drugs
Richard Ball, 23, of Kingston was charged with felony theft and resisting arrest shortly after police were called to the Route 28 store on Wednesday.
Nicholas Messina, 21, of Haverhill, Mass., and Yris Fraden, 21, of Bradford, Mass. were also arrested on a variety of charges. Police pulled over the silver Audi they were traveling in near the area of 310 Main St.
All three suspects are being held on bail pending their arraignments in 10th Circuit Court in Salem.
Police responded to a call from the Home Depot store for a report of several shoplifters running from the store. Police were advised one man was running across a nearby plaza, while another fled in a car. Responding officers found the man on foot inside a McDonald's restaurant nearby and took him into custody.
Another officer spotted a car matching the description of a vehicle that fled the scene driving down Main Street, according to police. A brief investigation resulted in the driver and passenger being taken into custody, police said.
Ball and Messina had approximately $400 worth of data boards from the store, according to police.
Messina is charged with willful concealment and held on $600 bail. Fraden was charged with possession of a controlled drug, resisting arrest, driving after revocation and accomplice to theft.
