A day in the life aboard the USS Kearsarge

She is the fifth ship to be named (the fourth actually commissioned) in honor of the USS Kearsarge, a sloop-of-war that gained fame during the American Civil War, which was in turn named for Mount Kearsarge in New Hampshire. It is the only ship name that is required in the U.S. Navy since the original USS Kearsarge sank the Confederate raider Alabama. 17 of her crew received the Medal of Honor for valor.
