Woman sought in Manchester stabbing

MANCHESTER - An 18-year-old city woman is being sought by police for stabbing another woman in the stomach in an incident Saturday afternoon on Cherry Avenue.

Lourdes Fraser, 18, of 471 Beech St., is wanted on a felony charge of first-degree assault in the stabbing of Mariah Burleigh, 19, of 16 Cherry Ave. Burleigh was taken by ambulance to Elliot Hospital for treatment of a serious stab wound.

Police said Fraser fled the scene and remains at large.

The stabbing happened about 3:30 p.m. at Burleigh's home. Police said Fraser drove to Burleigh's home and had an altercation with her. Burleigh became concerned for her mother when she saw Fraser had a knife and stepped in between the two.

The two teens then began to fight and Fraser stabbed Burleigh in the stomach, police said.
