MICHAEL CULLEN

Man indicted in connection with Rochester supermarket robbery

DOVER - A Rochester man could face up to 10 to 20 years in prison for allegedly robbing a Rochester supermarket in February.

On April 18, a Strafford County grand jury indicted Michael Cullen, 44, of 1 Winter St., Rochester, on charges of robbery and falsifying physical evidence in connection with a Feb 2 incident at the Market Basket along Milton Road - Route 125.

Police say Cullen walked into the store, gave a handwritten note - which stated "give me all your money out of the safe don't be a hero" - to a customer service clerk and told her he had a gun. He then fled the store with an undisclosed amount of money and disposed of the clothing and shoes he wore during the incident in a Dumpster, according to the indictments.

At the time of the incident, police believed Cullen lived along Main Street in Farmington.

Cullen, who turned himself into police a few days after the incident, is scheduled to be arraigned in Strafford County Superior Court May 2 at 9 a.m.

Robbery is a class A felony, which could result in a sentence of up to 7½ to 15 years in prison, while falsifying physical evidence is a class B felony which could yield up to 3½ to 7 years in prison.
