Dressing down for a good cause in Berlin
BERLIN - Employees at Coos County Family Health Services have to pay to wear jeans to work on certain Fridays, but it's for a number of good causes.
Last year they raised $3,674 to support various causes in the community. Beneficiaries ranged from the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, to RESPONSE to sexual and domestic violence.
They also boosted medical causes at the local level, from breast cancer awareness to helping provide diabetic supplies, as well as Matt's Mission for heart health, which helps put defibrillators in schools.
Funds also go to individuals and families in need. The money has been used to help families in the community who have suffered financially from serious illness or injuries, and to assist families who have lost their homes to fire.
