Meadowbrook takes on a new name and sponsor
GILFORD - As it readies to open for its 18th season, Meadowbrook has a new sponsor and a new name: The Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion at Meadowbrook.
Meadowbrook President R.J. Harding and Bank of New Hampshire President and CEO K. Mark Primeau announced the bank's sponsorship at the venue Thursday.
A few months ago, former sponsor U.S. Cellular and Meadowbrook ended their business relationship.
Bank of New Hampshire, which had financed projects at Meadowbrook in past years and is currently financing the pavilion's $3 million expansion, seemed a natural choice to take over as chief sponsor, Harding said.
"They've been with us for years now," he said. "They've showed us they believe in what we are doing here."
Primeau said the bank sees Meadowbrook as a leading entertainment venue in New Hampshire and New England, "just as bank of New Hampshire is a leader in our state." "We are very excited about our first year of Bank of New Hampshire at Meadowbrook."
Harding did not disclose financial details of the sponsorship but said it would last at least seven years. U.S. Cellular was sponsor for the past six years.
Meadowbrook's expansion for the coming concert season will include bigger parking lots for bigger audiences, Harding said. The venue's seating capacity will rise from 6,400 to 8,300.
Meadowbrook has added a new 500-space parking lot, a new food and beverage facility, and a second access road. It's also adding a new audio system and a new curtain system.
At the announcement Thursday, Harding also announced five new shows: John Mayer on Aug. 18 with Phillip Phillips, Kiss on Aug. 7, Godsmack on Aug. 10, Ke$ha on Aug. 31, and Journey on Aug. 3.
