Wounded MBTA officer is husband of Exeter woman
Officer Sean Collier, 26, of the MIT Police Department, was shot and killed in his police car in Cambridge, Mass. and pronounced dead at Massachusetts General Hospital, according to a statement from the office of the Middlesex County District Attorney.
He had been on the MIT police force for about 16 months.
The wounded officer, Richard "Dic" Donohue, of Woburn, Mass., underwent surgery Friday in a Cambridge hospital.
Donohue, 33, has been a member of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Police Department for three years.
He is the husband of Kimberly (Forrest) Donohue, who graduated from Exeter High School in 2000 and Manhattan College in 2004.
Donohue was raised in Winchester, Mass., and graduated from Virginia Military Academy in 2003 with a degree in history.
The couple were married in 2011 at the Wentworth by the Sea resort and have an infant child.
Donohue and Collier were reportedly members of the same Massachusetts Police Academy class. Collier was awaiting appointment to the police department in Somerville, Mass., where Donohue resided before moving to Woburn, in the summer of 2011.
