PETERBOROUGH - The tense lockdown of Boston and surrounding areas has Monadnock Community Hospital president and CEO Peter Gosline on pins and needles Friday.
The father of four grown children has his eldest son, his wife and his only daughter in the Boston area.
'I was pretty worried earlier cause I thought all three of these children would be in Boston, and particularly MIT,' He said.
He was relieved to learn his eldest son Christopher Gosline and his wife Renee Gosline did not go to work Friday morning.
Christopher works in Boston's financial district and Renee is an MIT professor.
An early morning email from Renee said she planned to go to work, but later in the morning Gosline said he learned the couple had decided to stay in their Manchester, Mass., home.
The couple also have a home in Bath, New Hampshire.
His youngest child, Lauren Gosline lives in Brighton and works in a school in Needham. Gosline has been in phone contact with her throughout the day as she is under orders not to leave her home. Her street is eerily empty, but she occasionally hears police walking the streets or a helicopter flying by.
"She was calling me and was in terror because she was so frightened. So I was ready to jump in my car and go get her," Gosline said. "It was very tense. It has been all day."
The whole Boston area seems to be in "shock or panic down there," he said.
Gosline is still ready to drive down to Brighton and bring his daughter home for the weekend, but for now a friend of hers is supposed to come and stay with her at around 5 p.m., he said.
He is also worried about his son and his daughter-in-law returning to their jobs.
"I'm kind of on pins and needles with all of them," he said.
Gosline said Christopher was already grown and on is own when he moved to Peterborough to helm Monadnock Community Hospital, but Lauren was a middle schooler and lived in Peterborough till she left to attend college south of Boston.
