Monadnock hospital CEO to retire

PETERBOROUGH - After 16 years leading Monadnock Community Hospital, president and CEO Peter Gosline announced this week that he is retiring in 2014.

"I've been privileged to lead one of the finest hospitals in New England," Gosline said in the announcement. "After 16 years as CEO, it's time to move on and transfer MCH's helm to a new generation of leadership. I look forward to working with Bob, the trustees and the management team during the 12-month transition period, and to being available as an advisor to management after retiring as CEO."

During his time at the small 25-bed hospital, Gosline oversaw tremendous growth including the addition of the Bond Wellness Center, the transformation of the emergency department into the expanded and updated Sarah Hogate Bacon Emergency Services Center, the expansion of the operating room suites and a total restructuring of the hospital campus.

"Peter Gosline has been one of the most successful CEOs in MCH's 90 years of operation. He has managed the organization through challenging times, and helped us navigate impressive growth," said Bob Edwards, chairman of the board, in the announcement. "The board is grateful for his contributions to the organization and his years of unselfish service as CEO."

To ensure a seamless transition of leadership, Gosline and the board have agreed he will stay on until his replacement is hired, at which point he would stay on in an advisory capacity for the balance of the 12 months.

Gosline joined Monadnock Community Hospital in March 1998. He has more than 35 years of experience working as employee and consultant in a variety of health-care settings, including a regional hospital association, four community hospitals, a psychiatric hospital and a network of three hospitals.

Gosline and his wife, Connie, live in Peterborough and have four grown children.
