Hooksett middle school trip to D.C. is back on, June 7-10
HOOKSETT - A school trip for Hooksett middle school students to Washington, D.C., that was canceled due to security concerns after the Boston Marathon bombings has been rescheduled for June 7-10.
The trip was supposed to have begun yesterday, but the Hooksett School Board canceled it, a move that provoked criticism from some parents.
More than 100 students in the 8th grade at David R. Cawley Middle School, along with 11 chaperones, are set to go on the trip.
The principal of the school, Matthew Benson, said times on the itinerary may change and possibly the site of the baseball game, but all other stops on the original itinerary will take place. The dates for Camp Mi Te Na have been moved back one day, running from June 3-5.
A parent/student information night is May 1 at 6:30 p.m. in the gymnasium to provide the agenda and answer questions.
"I want to personally thank the parents for your understanding and support," Benson said in a statement.
