Fisher Cats set to open homestand
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, who return home to begin a four-game series against the Binghamton Mets today, ended their seven-game road trip with a win Wednesday.
Clint Robinson delivered the go-ahead single in the 11th inning, leading New Hampshire to a 3-2 win against the New Britain Rock Cats. Robinson's fifth RBI of the series allowed New Hampshire to even its record at 7-7 while New Britain fell to 7-6.
New Hampshire will start a four-game series today at 6:35 p.m. at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium against the Mets. The series continues Friday at 6:35 p.m. and game starts for Saturday and Sunday is 1:35 p.m.
Today the Fisher Cats will giveaway fleece blankets to the first 1,000 fans.
Today's pitching match-up with features righthander Ryan Tepera (2-0, 2.45) against Binghamton righthander Tyler Pill (0-1, 9.00).
New Britain arrives next Tuesday for a three-game series. Game starts for the series are 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, 5:05 p.m. Wednesday and 10:35 a.m. in the homestand's finale next Thursday .
On Wednesday against the Rock Cats, the Fisher Cats took a 1-0 third inning on a RBI single from Kevin Pillar.
John Tolisano plated Robinson in the ninth inning for a two-run cushion. But New Britain responded in the home ninth with two runs on three hits against Chad Beck, who was handed a blown save.
In the 10th inning New Hampshire's Brad Glenn made a tough catch against the wall in right field to extend the game.
In the 11th frame, Ryan Schimpf of New Hampshire singled and was balked to second base by losing pitcher Aaron Thompson (0-1). A groundout advanced Schimpf to third before Robinson delivered his winning hit to left field.
Robinson had two hits in the game and finished with seven hits in the series, good for five RBIs in the three-game series against New Britain. Trystan Magnuson (1-0) earned the win in relief. Tommy Hottovy retired the last two batters for his first save.
