Pinkerton girls shut down Bedford in second half to win

Pinkerton of Derry held Bedford scoreless in the second half while rallying for a 12-9 victory in Division I girls' lacrosse on Tuesday afternoon. Erin Coutts and Maggie McCarthy had three goals apiece, and Chevy Collins led the Pinkerton defense with three caused turnovers and one interception.

Goalie Sarah Lambert made 17 saves for the Astros, who improved to 3-1. Bedford took a 9-5 lead into halftime.

Pinkerton improved its record to 3-1 while Bedford fell to 2-1 on the season.

Morgan Linehan, Lindsey Sullivan and Alexandria Fink led the Bulldogs with two goals apiece, and Drew Shapiro scored a goal and had two assists.

Bedford is scheduled to host St. Thomas of Dover in its next match on Monday afternoon. Pinkerton visits Manchester Memorial on Friday afternoon.
