Ex-officer waives hearing in Bedford hit and run
The case against Coco, 41, of 29 Meadowcrest Drive, Bedford, charged with two counts of conduct after an accident, will be forwarded to Hillsborough County Superior Court for presentation before a grand jury and possible indictment.
Police prosecuting attorney William Thornton said he did not know if the case would be heard next week, the next seating of the grand jury, or the following month.
Coco is accused of leaving the scene of an accident that injured two teens, Dean Drukker, 18, and Noah Hickman, 17, both of Bedford, on the night of March 22.
The teens were walking along Harrod Lane in Bedford when they were struck from behind by an SUV that fled the scene.
Drukker was knocked unconscious and suffered a serious head injury, while Hickman broke his elbow.
Coco, a 17-year veteran of the Manchester Police Department, was a sergeant assigned to the Special Investigations Unit which primarily conducts undercover drug investigations. He was fired after Manchester police conducted an internal investigation into the incident and determined that several department policies were violated.
