Parsons to speak at Heritage Heights

CONCORD - Cindy Parsons, a representative for the Wounded Warrior Project in America, will be the guest speaker at the Heritage Heights Retirement Community at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16.

The power-point presentation will be at Ted's Place, located on the retirement community's campus, 149 East Side Drive.

The public is invited to hear Parsons' heart warming message of hope for the men and women who have served in harms way in Iraq or Afghanistan.

New Boston AFS is open for recreation

NEW BOSTON - With the completion of a multi-year investigation, the Air Force has determined there are no residual effects hindering camping and recreational activities on New Boston Air Force Station.

NBAFS, home to the 23rd Space Operations Squadron, is once again providing access to its recreational venues.

NBAFS sits in an undeveloped area of rural New Hampshire, and includes more than 2,600 acres of rolling hills that offer recreational opportunities.

In 2009, camping and recreational activities on NBAFS were closed to allow the Air Force to determine if there were any residual effects from the station's heritage as a World War II and Korean Conflict training facility.

The majority of the station consists of undeveloped forest, which encircles campground and recreation areas. The NBAFS campground is one of only two FamCamps in New England, and has approximately 50 campsites (a mixture of sites equipped with full RV hookups and primitive campsites) scattered around four ponds.

NBAFS operates an equipment resale, issue and rental operation. Some items available for issue and rental include skis, snowboards, poles, boots, snowmobiles, popup trailers, kayaks, canoes and boats.

NBAFS also operates a recreational vehicle storage lot for active-duty, Guard, and Reserve personnel, retirees, and DOD civilians. Call 471-2488.
