Salem police seek male driver who rattled 10-year-old boy

Salem police will increase patrols at all elementary schools after a motorist reportedly followed a 10-year-old student on his way home from school on Wednesday.

The Fisk Elementary School student was walking home when the driver followed him, police said. The driver is described as a white man in his 30s. He drove a blue vehicle with hood scoops and possibly a white and black New Hampshire temporary license plate.

The student then was approached by an unknown man driving a green minivan. The driver asked the boy if he knew the person in the blue car. The driver then told the boy to go home and tell his parents, saying he had seen the blue car in the area before talking with children, police said.

Salem police ask anyone with information to contact them at 893-1911.
