MANCHESTER - Fifteen runs one night, one the next.

That was the fate of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, who exploded offensively on Monday night but were held to seven hits and a single run Tuesday night in a 5-1 loss to the Trenton Thunder at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

Austin Bibens-Dirkx, 1-1, pitched well for the Fishers, allowing only two runs (one earned) over seven innings. Trenton starter Caleb Cotham went five innings for the win. Jeremy Bleich and Tommy Kahnle hurled four scoreless innings in relief.

New Hampshire scored its run in the second inning on a John Tolisano single that plated Nashua's Kevin Nolan.

The Thunder broke open a 2-1 game with two runs in the eighth and one more in the ninth.

The clubs conclude their series with a 10:35 a.m. game today.

New Hampshire righty Marcus Walden (0-1, 4.15) faces Trenton southpaw Nik Turley (0-0, 13.50).
