Fisher Cats beat Trenton, 6-3, Wednesday
MANCHESTER - Power-packed third baseman Ryan Schimpf only has four hits in the first seven games for the Fisher Cats, but he definitely makes them count.
Schimpf's three-run homer, his third blast of the season, was the decisive blow that lifted the Fisher Cats to a 6-3 victory against Trenton at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium on Wednesday.
A crowd of 6,241 came out to Northeast Delta Dental Stadium on Manchester Public Schools Day, an outing made possible by E&R Cleaners and Youk's Kids, the foundation of former Red Sox infielder Kevin Youkilis.
New Hampshire starter Marcus Walden pitched into the fifth inning, and lefty reliever Matt Wright (1-0) picked up the win by pitching 2-2/3 innings of scoreless relief. Chad Beck earned his second save of the season as the Fisher Cats improved to 4-3.
Kevin Pillar and Brian Van Kirk each had three hits, and Schimpf went 1-for-3 with the homer off Trenton's Nik Turley (0-1).
