Manchester police identify body found in Merrimack River as city woman

MANCHESTER - Police have identified the body pulled from the Merrimack River in Manchester last weekend as a city woman.

Manchester Police spokesperson Lt. Maureen Tessier said the body of Ellen Reynolds, 55, of 619 Union St., Manchester, was found partially submerged in an area under the Granite Street Bridge near Phillippe Cote Street around 7 a.m. last Saturday.

Tessier said an autopsy conducted by the state's medical examiner determined the cause of death as drowning. She said that while Manchester police are still awaiting the results of a toxicology report, police don not suspect foul play in the woman's death.

In Nashua, police said they are still trying to positively identify the body of a man found Thursday, April 4, in the Nashua River.
