BB shots fired from passing vehicles in Manchester

MANCHESTER - Police are investigating two separate incidents of someone firing a BB gun from a passing vehicle, striking a 44-year-old man in the back in one, and missing two young children walking along Belmont Street in the other.

The first incident happened about 3:30 p.m. Monday at Belmont and Hanover streets. A 10-year-old boy was walking home with a friend when a black SUV pulled up alongside them.

A woman passenger pointed her finger at the boys, gesturing in a shooting motion, and then the rear passenger window went down and a man in the back seat pointed a BB gun out the window and fired at the two boys. Neither was hit.

The woman is described as being 25 years of age, with brown hair, streaked with light color. She had freckles on her face and wore a blue shirt. The man who fired the BB gun is described as Hispanic, in his 30s, wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and dark sunglasses.

At 4:50 p.m. the same day, a 44-year-old man walking on Main Street near Manchester West High School flagged down an officer to report that someone in a passing car fired a BB gun at him, striking him in the back. Police said the man had a small welt on his back.

He could give no description of the two people who were in the small, four-door car.

Anyone with information on either of these incidents is asked to call police at 668-8711. Anonymous tips for cash rewards may be made through Manchester Crimeline at 624-4040 or online at .
