Suspicious driver and car sighted in Conway

CONWAY - Police are urging motorists and citizens to be on the lookout for a suspicious driver in a red Honda Civic with New Jersey plates who reportedly approached school children in the area.

The driver is described as a 30-year-old man wearing a Red Sox cap, gray sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Gary MacDonald, SAU 72 superintendent in Fryeburg, Maine, sent a letter home to parents last Friday advising them the driver in the red Honda Civic approached elementary school-aged students in the Stow/Fryeburg Harbor, Maine, area.

Two incidents were reported; the license plate was covered with duct tape in the second incident.

Conway police said a vehicle and driver matching the description of the man and the Civic were seen Friday about noon at Doloff Pond.

Two men were reportedly inside the red car.

Police are reminding parents and guardians that school children should be supervised at stops until picked up by the the bus.

Anyone with information about the suspicious driver or who spots the vehicle and driver is asked to call police at 356-5715.
