Hooksett man threatened, hit Manchester officer with 2x4, police say

An out-of-control Hooksett man was sprayed with pepper spray and, after he struck an officer with a 2x4, zapped with a stun gun in an incident Thursday afternoon at a West Auburn Street business, police said.

Officers went to D & D Cabinets, 21 West Auburn St. about 3 p.m. for a report of a disorderly man who was damaging property.

Inside the business, officers found damaged cabinets, walls and a fax machine. They located the man, identified as David McCloud, 43, of 5 Birchwood Lane, who police said immediately became aggressive towards the officers.

Lt. Maureen Tessier said the business is owned by McCloud's father and McCloud has some connection to it as well, although she did not know what that was. In 2012 filings with the state Secretary of State's Office, David McCloud is listed as president of the company and Richard McCloud, vice president.

As officers tried to figure out why McCloud was causing damage, police said McCloud became increasingly agitated and, at one point, told the officers they should move a metal file on a table or he might plunge it into one of their necks.

McCloud paced around the room, jumped up onto a table and began struggling with the officers when they tried to restrain him. They sprayed him with pepper spray, which did not work to subdue him.

Instead, police said McCloud grabbed an eight-foot, 2x4 and swung it at the officers, hitting Officer Rick Brown in the back as he turned to shield his head. Brown was not injured.

Police said McCloud tried to grab a second piece of wood and that's when police zapped him with the stun gun. He was arrested on charges of criminal mischief, criminal threatening and second degree assault.
