Two daytime burglaries reported in Salem

SALEM - Two daytime burglaries occurring Wednesday, one on Howard Street and the other on Pleasant Street, have police urging residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

The first burglary was reported at 1 p.m. on Howard Street when a resident returned home and found someone had kicked in the front door. The home was ransacked and property worth about $2,000 was stolen, including a computer, jewelry, a jewelry box and several credit cards.

The second burglary on Pleasant Street was reported at 4 p.m. Investigators said it appears someone forced his way into the home through a porch window. The residence was ransacked, but it appears only a checkbook was stolen.

Police have no witnesses in either case.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call police at 893-1911 or Southern N.H. Crimeline at 893-6600.
