Amherst club offers funding for nonprofits
AMHERST - The Amherst Junior Women's Club invites nonprofit organizations in need of charitable contributions to apply for a donation. Throughout the year, the club raises money and then disburses those funds within the community.
To qualify, the nonprofit does not need to have an Amherst address, but it must service the local community.
Requests must be submitted by Sunday, March 31, in writing or by e-mail. Once approved, the money will be distributed no later than June 15. The club only will notify the chosen recipients about the disbursements.
The request must contain: the name of organization, mailing address, email address, website if available, phone number, contact name and a copy of a 501 (c)(3) letter or nonprofit letter, as well as the dollar amount requested.
The request also should include when the organization was established and a short history, how it funds itself, such as federal or local grants, and its annual budget, including any expected shortfalls.
The organization also must address: how the money would be used; how the organization benefits Amherst and the greater community; and how the organization's objective corresponds to the club's mission.
The club says it's a group of women who volunteer their time, energy and talent to enhance the community. Its mission is to focus efforts on civic needs, educational advancement and the less fortunate.

Hollis Woman's Club's NYC trip open to public
HOLLIS - The Hollis Woman's Club has set Saturday, May 11, as the date for its annual spring day trip to New York City, which is open to the public.
The bus will leave at 6 a.m. from the Tyngsborough (Mass.) Park and Ride and leave New York City at 7 p.m. for the return trip. Trip-goers will be on their own in the city.

Windham club's meeting to feature Kid Jazz Band
WINDHAM - The Windham Woman's Club's next meeting on Wednesday, April 3, in Windham Town Hall will feature a performance by the Kid Jazz Band.
The gathering will begin with a luncheon at 11:30 a.m., followed by a meeting and then the program, a one-hour swing jazz concert by the family band.
Guests are welcome. For more information about the meeting or the club, call membership chairman Sue Violi at 889-0578. Information also is available at www.windhamwomansclub.com.
The club also is accepting donations for its yard sale, which will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 27, in the upstairs of town hall.
Donations will be accepted from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 26. The club will not accept clothing, combustibles or electronics.
Proceeds will benefit the club's scholarship fund.
