Barrington man faces 33 years for sexual assault

DOVER - A Barrington man is facing the possibility of spending up to 33 years in prison as a result of charges that he sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl over a period of two years in two communities.

A Strafford County grand jury handed up indictments against David Barr, 52, of 58 Seavey Bridge Road, Barrington, who is charged with four counts of felonious sexual assault and five counts of sexual assault.

Police say Barr sexually assaulted the girl five times at a home in Barrington in August of 2010 and two other times between August and October of that year. Additionally, he allegedly sexually assaulted the same girl in Rochester in March of 2011, according to the indictments.

Each count of felonious sexual assault is a Class B felony, which could result in a maximum sentence of 3½ to 7 years in prison. Meanwhile each count of sexual assault is a Class A misdemeanor, which could each yield up to a year in jail and a $2,000 fine.

Barr is scheduled to appear for arraignment in Strafford County Superior Court March 28 at 9 a.m.
