Chad Piersma drove in three runs as unbeaten Dartmouth College beat Vassar College, 10-2, yesterday in Winter Haven. Fla., and tied a 110-year-old school record by starting the season with eight straight wins.
Piersma highlighted a four-run, second inning with a two-run double and scored on a single by Shane Ogren. Piersma made it 5-2 in the fourth inning with an RBI single, part of a four-run frame.
Dartmouth, still the only unbeaten Division I program in the nation, collected 11 hits as Nick Ruppert, Ennis Coble and Joe Purritano each drove in two runs.
Winning pitcher Adam Frank worked five innings allowing two runs and three hits. He fanned four and walked five.
Michael Danielak worked four scoreless innings and fanned three batters. He allowed no hits facing the minimum 12 hitters.
Franklin Pierce 12, Lynn 5: In Boca Raton, Fla., the Ravens clubbed four homers in a 16-hit attack for the 10-8 Ravens. Junior first baseman Zach Mathieu of Derry smacked a solo home run in the third inning followed by a two-run blast in the sixth inning, giving him four homers on the season.
Swimming
Keene State: The Owls, ranked 15th nationally in the polls, sent seven swimmers to compete in the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, which begins today in Shenandoah, Texas.
Drew Ledwith of Keene, the New Hampshire Union Leader's Athlete of the Month for February, leads the list of Owl entries.
Ledwith is a three-time All-American. Jared Hyde, James Black and Austin Harris are making return trips to the nationals while the freshman trio of Shahar Resman, Cole Hogg of Manchester and Greg Youngstrom will be making their first NCAA appearances. Hyde, Back, and Harris earned honorable mention All-America honors in three relays at last year's meet.

St. Michael's College: In women's lacrosse Courtney Piper of Wolfeboro was named to the Northeast-10 Conference weekly honor roll for the second straight week.
St. Anselm College: In women's lacrosse, Marissa Daly was named the Northeast-10 Player of the Week. She registered 14 points on 13 goals and an assist. She is the 2012 rookie of the year.
In men's lacrosse, Jonathon O'Reilly was named the Northeast-10 goalkeeper of the week.
