There is no degree of withdrawing rights and confiscating tools from Americans that will guarantee that no mishap will occur, and no way to measure the success of any such effort. The next attempted hijacking will be cited as proof that we need to do more, not that what we have been doing was ineffective. The Transportation Security Administration guarantees nothing, except the tenure of its own hacks, as we keep our airports (and, according to Secretary Napolitano, soon our train and bus stations) militarized, and invade the rights of Americans against unreasonable search and seizure exactly when they are more anxious to get home than to defend those rights.

If you read more about this you will see its really not that bad.By allowing these small knives, we are bringing US policy in line with international policy. That means these small knives are already allowed on non US flights, and have been for several years. If you look at the photos of what is allowed, they are very small and while any sharp object has a potential to cause injury, these are many better ways to cause harm, than with blades this small.

I thought that republicans wanted everybody armed in movie theaters and schools. Why would they be against everybody having a gun or knife on a plane? Hey, go for it.

The TSA will continue to be a disgrace as long as they conform to the PC directives handed down from Big Sis. Strip searching 12 year old girls and 90 year old grandmas while allowing knives on board just blows my mind. The real reason for this policy change is the ineptness of the TSA at detecting these weapons. As for me, I will continue to drive to Disney and not put up with this crap at the airport.

Bob L.. and what are you going to do Bob if a terrorist tries to take over a plane you're on; cut them with your EBT card? Since you were so quick to bash Republicans you probably forgot that the Messiah and his lying piece of crap Attorney General can't bring themselves to call the War on Terror, the War On Terror. So then, according to President Glassjaw and the Liar Attorney General, we shouldn't need to worry about terrorists because the war on terror is over. Horray!!

On the other hand there will be more good people on the plane armed with knives than bad people if they exercise their rights to self protection. Nothing gives bad people an edge like good people doing nothing. But then many of us already know the democrats always side with the criminals in these matters as their leaders enjoy the money and power to hire people to protect them. And if they can't it will be paid for by the very citizens they seek to disarm. It's a great system if you're Kings & Queens.

ETHAN GAUVIN - With all due respect for the topic and need for security and the tragedy that occurred in NYC on 9/11/2001, don't you mean 9/11 in the title of the article as being an abbreviated date rather than the emergency number to call for medical/fire/police aid? The title reads in-part " . . . back to before 911".

Jeesh, Bob will you ever stop exercising yourself to Anderson Cooper and Maddow, you'll go blind. Give it up already, you're "stuff" is getting really old and pathetic...But we still have to remove our shoes and MUST purchase "pre-cleared" beverages at 3-4 times the cost. There are devices that check drinks, through the plastic container, to verify if the liquids are dangerous or not... You're bottle of water is dangerous but not a knife... Good job TSA, "drop the bottle of mothers milk for your baby - but go ahead Crocodile Dundee you're all set buddy..."Typical DC mentality... But alas, we know how to pick 'em...
