Plaistow selectmen to get a pay raise - first in 43 years
One of those benefiting from the raise will be Selectman John Sherman, who was reelected to another three-year term, with 526 votes. Joyce Ingerson, with 365 votes, won a second seat on the board, beating Bruce Wayne Skofield, who had 271 votes.
In other action, voters passed a $7.7 million town budget, 571-100, and voted 504-171 to use $400,000 in water user fees, reserves and impact fees to install fire suppression waterlines along Route 125 from East Road to Old Road. They narrowly rejected a $30,000 plan, on a 333-345 vote, to conduct a feasibility study to evaluate the potential for converting the town's fire-protection system into a potable water system that could serve as drinking water and fire protection.
After it was defeated last year, voters Tuesday passed an $80,000 plan, 363-323, to build an outdoor shelter at the Old County Road recreation facility.
