Incumbent Selectman Flanagan loses in Brookline

BROOKLINE?-- Longtime incumbent Selectman Jack Flanagan was soundly defeated in the only contested race on the town's ballot during Tuesday's election.
Three people were vying for the two, two-year positions on the board of selectmen, including Flanagan, who also serves as a state representative, Susan Adams and Brendan Dennehy. Adams came away with 306 votes, Dennehy with 310, and Flanagan with 173.
Town Clerk Patricia Howard said there was remarkably low turnout for the elections on Tuesday with only 437 voters casting ballots out of 3,476 registered voters. At 12.5 percent, Howard said, that's pretty low.?
Brookline Town Meeting will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Captain Samuel Douglass Academy.
