Pembroke selectman loses seat

PEMBROKE -- Selectman John Duggan will give his seat up, receiving only 80 votes in a three way race for two selectman seats.

David Sheldon received 256 votes, Vincent "Doc" Greco 266, and Duggan 80.

School Board Chair Thomas Serafin will retain his seat and Jeanne Byrne will join the board. A write-in candidacy for the school board position by Carole Ward garnered 131 votes.

School District Treasurer had no name on the ballot, but a write-in campaign for Gillian Topliff received 43 votes.

A race for water commissioner, the only other contested race, went to Chester Martel, with his 179 votes overcoming Andew Boisvert's 125.

Pembroke will hold its town meeting, where the town's warrant articles will be discussed and voted, on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Pembroke Academy Auditorium.
