Twombley wins in Wakefield

WAKEFIELD – It was a tight, three-way race for one seat on the board of selectmen, but candidate Connie Twombley emerged the victor, beating incumbent Peter Kasprzyk by five votes and former selectman John Blackwood by 9.


The tally was Twombley, 235 votes, Kasprzyk, 230 votes and Blackwood, 226 votes. The board position is for a three-year seat.


In other contested races, Valerie Ward earned 264 votes to earn the Town Clerk position in a four-way race with Melissa Bickford (106 votes) Michelle MacDonald (175 votes) and Bridget Passariello (118 votes).


In the planning board four-way race for two seats, Thomas Dube earned a lost with 343 votes and David Silcocks with 287 votes. Runners up Nancy Spencer Smith earned 252 votes and Gerard Levesque earned 218 votes.


Craig Farley, Bruce Rich and Nancy Spencer Smith were elected to three open slots on the budget committee. Jerry O'Connor earned 401 votes as trustee of the trust funds, defeating Thomas Cassidy who earned 218 votes.


Voters approved most of the funded warrant articles, including funds for milfoil control, the town's $4.1 million budget and those which would fund new laptops and cameras for the town's police department cruisers.
