Pike survives tight race for Belmont seat

BELMONT – In a very tight race, incumbent Selectman John Pike survived a challenge from George Condodemetraky by 25 votes.
Pike was reelected with 267 votes, while Condodemetraky tallied 242.
In races for the zoning board of adjustment, Marshall Ford won a three-year seat with 222 votes to Ed Hawkins' 212 votes. Ford had also filed for a two-year seat on the board, but lost that race with 198 votes to winner John Froumy's 217.
Most ballot questions passed. Failing was Question 3, which would have expanded the board of library trustees from three members to five, by a vote of 223-269.
Passing was Question 4, which asked voters for $355,000 to replace 3,750 feet of water lines within Belmont Village. The vote was 311-185 in favor. The question needed three-fifths in favor, or 297 votes, to pass.
