Updated: Shooting victim at Danville police chief's home was a minor

DANVILLE — New Hampshire State Police left the home of Danville Police Chief Wade Parsons early Tuesday morning, but questions linger surrounding a death reported inside the residence Monday night.

Police and emergency personnel responded to a 911 call made from the home at 53 Caramel Drive around 7:15 p.m. to investigate what state police described as an “untimely death.”

State police Lt. Chris Vetter hasn’t confirmed initial emergency communications that reported that a 15-year-old had suffered a gunshot wound.

On Tuesday, state police would only identify the victim as a minor and said troopers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.

Vetter said Tuesday afternoon that no cause of death had been determined.

According to Associate Attorney General Jane Young, the investigation is currently being handled by state police.

Rockingham County Attorney James Reams said that depending on the results of the investigation his office will likely conduct a review to make any final decisions in the case.

State police have said the incident wasn’t a domestic situation.

They have not said whether Parsons was inside the home at the time of the incident.

State police were asked to take over the investigation at the request of Danville police, Vetter said.

State troopers swarmed the residence Monday night, parking their cruisers up and down the quiet residential street located in a neighborhood known for streets named after candy.

Police had left by Tuesday morning and only TV media trucks lined the street.
