Multiple accidents close I-93 through Franconia Notch
FRANCONIA - Icy conditions caused four accidents and forced the closure of Interstate 93 through the Franconia Notch area Sunday night.
Franconia public safety dispatchers said both I-93 North and South, between exits 35 and 36, were closed Sunday from 7 p.m. to approximately 9 p.m. Calls came in reporting icy conditions around 6:30 p.m., and four accidents were reported over the next 30 minutes, one involving a rollover.
No injuries were reported, and no citations were issued. Several vehicles were towed from the area.
The road was reopened just after 9 p.m., after state highway crews treated the road surface and public safety officials deemed it safe for travel.
