J.P. Noonan Transportation found liable for Maine crash

A Maine jury has found J.P. Noonan Transportation Inc. liable for $1.5 million in damages for a 2011 accident that left a Sabattus, Maine, man severely injured.

The plaintiff Gregory Hall, 43, suffered severe and permanent leg injuries after his Dodge Neon collided with a Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by J.P. Noonan driver Brian Cannon, of Middleborough, Mass.

In the accident report, police concluded that Cannon "failed to yield the right-of-way."

Cannon suffered minor cuts and scrapes.

The case was heard at the Androscoggin County Superior court, with the trial lasting two days. The jury voted 8-1 on Feb. 22 to award Hall $1.5 million in damages. All nine jurors agreed that Hall was injured due to negligence; the dissenting juror argued that Hall's injuries were in part due to his own negligence.

J.P. Noonan is headquartered in West Bridgewater, Mass., with a terminal in Hooksett and other locations.
